Kabale University is a Public University, established by Statutory Instrument 2015 No 36 of 16th July 2015 under The Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (amended 2003, 2006). The public status was operationalized on 1st July Z016, with formal Government funding. Prior to this, Kabale University attained Charter status - Certificate No ULCH.0O8 - dated 29th September, 2014.

Kabale University is located on Kikungiri Hill in Kabale Municipality, 2 kilometers off Kabale-Katuna-Kigali Highway. The University opened its gates in 2002 to 42 students, and presently has an average enrolment of 3000 students; coming from all parts of Uganda, and the countries of the Great Lakes Region - Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC Congo, and South Sudan. Apart from the well-known diverse tourist attractions and the

captivating scenery, the Kabale region offers a serene, weather-friendly learning and teaching environment. Kabale University invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates for the following posts:

University Secretary
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Should have a Masters degree in either Accounting and Finance, Public Administration and Management, Educational Planning and Management
OR

  • A Masters degree with post graduate Diploma in either Financial Management, Human Resource
  • Management, Public Administration and Management or Educational Planning and Management.
  • A Certificate in Administrative Law is an added advantage.
  • Should have a minim’um' requirement of ten (10) years working experience in a reputable organization, five (5) of which should have been at the level of Deputy University Secretary or equivalent.
  • Should have the ability to organize and commit resources and time to establish and deliver on initiatives that will achieve significant long-term benefits for the University.
  • Should be computer literate and have the ability to use a broad range of communication styles to manage diverse situations and effectively relate to people.
  • Should have high integrity with extensive leadership skills.
  • Should have broad knowledge of the policy and legal framework governing the operations of public universities.
