Organization Overview:
The National Animal Genetics Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB), a body corporate under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, mandated to improve animal genetics in the country, wishes to recruit the following:
Job Title: Veterinary Officer

Duration of commitment: 3 Years Contract

Location: Various Centre Farms
Reporting To: Deputy Technical Manager Production

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
To safeguard the health and welfare of animals reared for breeding or production. Age Limit: 25-40 Years
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Undertakes diagnosis and treatment of animals; Refers animals for the conduct of tests including X-rays, blood samples and ultrasound scans as may be found appropriate; Advises on animal nutrition, breeding and health; Participates in the regulation of potential animal breeder prior to licensing and quality assurance on production of semen or genetic breeds; Conducts vaccination of animals against various types of diseases; Performs surgery on animals; Maintains proper and accurate records of animal health; Handles and controls animal health emergencies including disease outbreaks and epidemics; Conducts assisted reproduction including artificial insemination and embryo transfer; Undertakes any other official duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• A degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized institution is a prerequisite.
• Should be registered by the Uganda Veterinary Board
• Should have good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Working experience as a Veterinarian of at least Three (3) years from a reputable organization.
