JOB DETAILS:
Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a German non-profit organisation that implements media development projects in crisis regions. Activities focus on the interplay between conflict, media coverage and reconciliation. MiCT’s services comprise the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, as well as media research and monitoring in conflict regions.
"Strengthening Media Capacities and Networks in the Nile Basin" aims to amplify balanced and constructive narratives around water resource management and cooperation in the Nile Basin region. The project is a collaboration between Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT), the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), and other partners.
The project's overall objective is to strengthen media capacities and networks in the Nile Basin to support constructive and solution-oriented approaches to water-related conflicts in the Nile Basin.
The specific objectives of the project are:
• To reach a broad audience of Nile Basin citizens with in-depth, fact-based and constructive reporting on Nile Basin issues.
• To strengthen and expand the existing network of multimedia Nile Basin journalists and media organisations, widening ownership over the network to include more stakeholders and journalists in the region.
• To generate incentives for journalists and media houses to engage in more fact-based and constructive reporting on Nile Basin issues.
The Workshop Administrator is a crucial role in the project "Strengthening Media Capacities and Networks in the Nile Basin," aimed at facilitating and coordinating all logistical aspects of the workshops and training sessions within the project. The role ensures a smooth execution of these activities, from planning to wrap-up, contributing to the project's goal of strengthening media capacities and promoting solution-oriented narratives around the Nile Basin.
Key Responsibilities:
1. 1 Workshop Logistics
o Planning, booking, and setting up venues.
o Managing invitations, confirmations, and participant travel and accommodations.
o Providing on-site logistical support during the workshops.
2. Material Preparation
o Coordinate with trainers to ensure all materials are prepared.
o Prepare and distribute workshop kits to participants.
3. Financial Oversight
o Budget management for each workshop.
o Keeping financial records and providing expense reports to the Project Coordinator.
4. Coordination with Project Staff
o Liaising with Project Coordinator and Community Manager and Coach for scheduling and content alignment.
o Providing regular updates to the project team.
5. Monitoring and Reporting
o Post-workshop analysis and reporting.
o Keeping track of participant feedback for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in event management, administration, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in project management and administration and/or workshop coordination, preferably in the NGO sector in East Africa.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other project management tools.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be based in Uganda.
• Regional experience in East Africa is an advantage.
