Youth Alive, the leader in innovative children, adolescents and youth integrated development programming since 1993, is a consortium partner on the USAID/Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in East Central Uganda (USAID/ RHITES-EC) project led by University Research Co., LLC (URC). RHITES-EC is five-year project intended to support the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated investment in regional health, HIV/AIDS and nutrition assistance in 11 districts of East, Central Uganda. Youth Alive is inviting applications from interested candidates with the necessary qualifications and experience to fill the following positions:

Position: Youth Advisor
Reports: Director Programs
Vacancies: one (1)
Duty Station: Jinja

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead in the designing and coordinating of health & OVC support strategies for youth beneficiaries of the project.
  • Design & implement comprehensive integrated sexual and reproductive health and HIV services for adolescents/youth.
  • Support the project structures to implement interventions at community level and through community service institutions to improve youth & adolescent knowledge, awareness, attitudes and practices about key health issues
  • Lead in enhancing youth participation in health services management, delivery, monitoring and accountability
  • Lead in identifying and working with youth-focused & youth-led CSOs to effectively support the delivery of comprehensive health services
  • Support operational research in youth programming approaches & participatory methods

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Qualified with Masters in Public Health or its equivalent
  • At least 5 years experience in designing and implementing health/OVC youth programs. '
  • Strong in training and facilitation skills
  • Good knowledge of cost management principles and practice especially in civil society sector/NGO sector.
  • Experience with USAID projects for health & OVC programming.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Creative, analytical, with good problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
  • Experience in facilitating the Youth Alive EFL Curriculum is an added advantage
