Reports to: Chief Accountant
Company Overview:
Bahari Forwarders (U) Ltd is an Authorized Economical Operator in Uganda offering comprehensive logistical solutions across various sectors in Uganda and East Africa region.
Position Summary:
The Accountant will provide administrative and accounting support to the finance department. This includes managing financial transactions, processing invoices, maintaining records, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring the smooth operation of accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process and verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Record and post transactions in the company’s Tally system.
• Prepare financial documentation such as payment and journal vouchers.
• Handle the preparation and reconciliation of petty cash and mobile money transaction ledgers.
• Ensure accurate recording of bulk fuel delivery details (tank dip/gauge readings).
• Follow up with clients on outstanding invoices and ensure timely document scanning.
• Prepare daily bank and debtors reports and perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Ensure proper filing of statutory taxes and deductions on the URA portal.
• Respond to audit queries and maintain proper documentation for auditing purposes.
• Handle communications with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in person.
• Perform any other related tasks as assigned by the Chief Accountant.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting or a related field, with a focus on Accounting.
• Full professional qualifications in ACCA or CPA.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting procedures and standards.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and relevant accounting software (e.g., Tally).
