Communications, PR & Marketing Officer

The Communications, PR & Marketing Officer should have good time management skills and be able to juggle multiple responsibilities as well as possess qualities such as discretion, diplomacy, sound judgment and the ability to solve problems independently.
Educational Background
The person should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related fields.
Personal Skills
Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, Problem-solving and organizational skills, Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and multimedia software, An enthusiast of social media, Some knowledge of the built environment, Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies that pertain to communications, Ability to Work well with minimal supervision, Ability to speak boldly about situations that need attention, Flexibility and patience, Knowledge of graphics.

Media & Communications
• Develops and implements USA’s Communications and PR strategy
• Provides direction for the USA media team that is, design strategy, audio visual coverage and production
• Ensures that USA’s website and social media outlets are up to date through upload of current content on issues of importance
• Carries out market research and surveys from time to time in collaboration with the Board of Research/Development, to inform USA’s Media & PR strategy.
• Identifies opportunities for USA to engage regionally and internationally
• Provides monthly reports of Media & PR activities and opportunities
• Plans events like CPDs, symposia and other USA activities
• Represents USA at meetings, conferences, workshops or any related fora as assigned by Council

Publications
Coordinates the writing, editing, production and distribution of the Quarterly Newsletter of the USA and overseeing the Media team in liaison with the Board of Practice

Public Relations
Working with the Executive, Secretariat and Council Boards,
• Plans public relations activities, including the budgets involved.
• Develops and manages USA’s brand identity
• Organizes Media & PR events for USA including press conferences, interviews, and others
• Prepares content (articles, advertorials, and features) for media outlets including radio, TV and Newspapers.
• Prepares and distributes press releases
• Writes, edits, and produces newsletters, brochures, and other publications for clients
• Assists with the preparation of annual reports, business profiles, and other corporate documents
• Writes speeches and oversees the development of visual and multimedia aids for presentations
• As may be required, public speaking on behalf of Council at press conferences, media interviews, and presentations
• Develops and implements risk assessments and crisis management plans to protect USA’s reputations
• Assists in scheduling media and personal appearances by the Council members
• Provides information about USA activities in general response to public inquiries through social media outlets or otherwise.
• Assists in the preparation and distribution of public relations materials
• Assists in coordination of Council’s interface with the allied professional bodies, regulatory bodies, government and private sector

Membership
• Assists in recruiting new members
• Maintains all memberships
• Prepares and distributes the Annual Membership Directory
• Processes new membership applications and communicates all necessary information to Council
• Provides administrative support for the membership at large
• Provides notification and follow-up for membership subscriptions
• Assists the President, Honorary Secretary and Council in the planning and writing of membership literature
