The Human Resource Manager will lead the HR function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring the effective delivery of HR strategies and services. This role focuses on talent acquisition, performance management, conflict resolution, benefits administration, strategic HR planning, and employee exit procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract skilled talent.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment process including job postings, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with department heads to forecast staffing needs.

2. Performance Management

  • Design and implement performance appraisal systems aligned with company goals.
  • Monitor employee KPIs and provide guidance to supervisors for performance improvement.
  • Promote a high-performance culture through training, coaching, and feedback mechanisms.

3. Dispute Resolution & Employee Relations

  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution in line with labor laws.
  • Maintain a positive workplace culture through effective communication and conflict management.
  • Act as the primary liaison between employees and management on HR matters.

4. Compensation & Benefits Administration

  • Oversee the administration of employee compensation and benefits programs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal compensation policies.
  • Review benefits packages periodically to ensure competitiveness in the industry.

5. Strategy Implementation

  • Align HR strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide HR insights and data analytics to support strategic decision-making.

6. Exit Management

  • Manage all aspects of the employee exit process, including resignations, terminations, and retirements.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to inform retention strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and internal procedures during separations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Postgraduate diploma or certification in HR is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Ugandan labor laws and HR best practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
