JOB DETAILS:
Job Title: Network Administrator
Directorate Technical Services (DTS)
Department Networks
Reporting to Senior Network Administrator
Salary Grade N5

Job Purpose
The Network Administrator shall provide Network Support to clients and Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Local
Government Offices and Users utilizing services under the NITA –U Network Portfolio.

Key Accountabilities
• Design, implement, maintain and enhance the NITA WAN/MAN Network Topologies using industry best practices / innovation as well as defined architecture standards and guidelines including the following, but not limited to;
• Networking (LAN / WAN / DNS / Wireless / Datacenter and Cloud)
• IP voice and video
• Performance management and monitoring tools
• Other relevant networking devices and systems\
• Bandwidth Manager
• WIFI
• Content delivery Networks
• Proactively recommend solutions /modifications of the existing environment in order to secure NITA – U’s operational assets, in particular the WAN/MAN operations environment;
• Provide support to internal and MDA/LG users for clarification of technical matters and the resolution of technical issues;
• Work actively with the Network Operations Centre Team to help create troubleshooting procedures for common issues;

Position Requirements
Education (Level of Education and Qualifications)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Telecommunications Engineering;
• Professional certifications such as CCDA, CCNA, CISSP, MCSE, etc, will be an added advantage

Experience
• Three years’ Experience in the design, implementation and management of WAN/LAN Networks in a large enterprise
• Technical Expertise
• Experience in Deployment of LAN/WAN/MAN over large networks, Last Mile Connectivity, NGN technology, BGP/OSPF/RIP and IGRIP Routing Protocols, and related routing protocols.

• Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team; Capacity to establish credibility, and trust and partnership and excellent communication and report writing skills.
