PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is a UK based charity/social enterprise with a mission to expand access to sustainably delivered, quality secondary education across Africa'. PEAS establish and operates low-cost secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is limited due to cost and geographical barriers. PEAS' interventions are built upon 3 pillars of education impact: Access, Quality and Sustainability. Since opening its first schools in 2008, the PEAS network has grown to 32 schools, and we are currently educating over 16,000 students.
PEAS Uganda is seeking to fill the following vacancies.
Job Title: Senior Inspector of Schools, Quality Assurance
Reporting to: Head of Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Kampala .
Job Summary:
The Senior Inspector of Schools, Quality Assurance will report to the Head of Quality Assurance Manager at Country office. Will be responsible for the delivery of the inspect and improve project, ensure effective planning, coordination, implementation, and reporting. More specifically, the role will be in charge of school inspections for inspect and improve (I&I) project schools, supervising the development and execution of school improvement plans to drive overall school performance, project managing the implementation of the l& programme, and supporting other members of the team with government partnership management and research and learning. As a senior inspector, you will divide your work time between tracking and supporting school improvement initiatives and strategies through the inspection officers and supporting with project management and partnership engagement. You will be required to work strategically with key stakeholders like the Directorate of Education Standards and DLGS.
Experience and Qualifications.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or an education related discipline
• At least 4 years' experience in education management at the level of Head teacher
• Significant and strong knowledge of secondary school inspections processes
• Strong understanding of Uganda education system and its policies for operating secondary schools
• Knowledgeable with effective strategies for turning around underperforming schools through leading and monitoring a rigorous school improvement process.
• Strong understanding of high-quality school management and drivers of school quality
• Considerable experience in networking and building partnerships with key education stakeholders for relevant interventions especially the MoES various departments.
• Project management experience
• Experience engaging in research and learning (managing external evaluations)
Desired
• Post graduate training in education management, public administration, or related discipline.
• Experience in developing and implementing professional school inspection systems and processes that drive school improvement Experience in school evaluations and reporting through critical analysis of school data
• Track record of improving student learning outcomes through teacher training and school support
• Driving license
