Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Video Editor to join our creative team in a part-time capacity. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in crafting compelling visual narratives that engage our audience and enhance the learning experience. You will collaborate closely with our Owner/MD and work within a hybrid environment that encourages flexibility and innovation.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Part-time
- Location: Kampala
- Reporting Structure: Reports to Owner / MD
Key Responsibilities
1. Organize and string together raw footage into a cohesive whole according to scripts or the instructions of directors and producers.
2. Edit films and videotapes to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, arranging films into sequences while correcting any errors using editing equipment.
3. Select and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story.
4. Review footage sequence by sequence to become familiar with it before assembling it into a final product.
5. Trim film segments to specified lengths and reassemble segments to present stories with maximum effect.
6. Cut shot sequences to different angles at specific points in scenes, ensuring each cut is fluid and seamless.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Post-secondary Diploma in Film, Media, or other related fields.
- Required Experience: 2-3 years in video editing.
- Mandatory Skills: Critical Thinking, Active Learning, Judgment and Decision Making, Time Management, Coordination.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in graphics or photo imaging software (e.g., Lightroom), video creation and editing software (e.g., Da Vinci Resolve), and music or sound editing software (e.g., FL Studio).
- Language Requirements: Fluent in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Skills: Reading Comprehension, Speaking.
- Preferred Knowledge Areas: Fine Arts.
- Preferred Responsibilities: Set up and operate computer editing systems, determine necessary audio and visual effects, and manipulate plot, score, sound, and graphics to create a cohesive product.
