JOB DETAILS:
Job purpose:
To conduct the 2023 Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) needs assessment data collection that explores access, availability, utilization, and quality of EmONC services in Uganda.

Responsibilities: The position holders shall be responsible for:

• Fieldwork preparation duties o Undertake a 3- days training on the adapted tools ensuring a common understanding of the data collection tools.
• Ensure that clearance for data collection has been obtained from the appropriate authorities before the onset of the data collection process.
• Fieldwork and data collection
• Perform day-to-day data collection activities: seek consent from eligible participants and conduct in-depth interviews and key informant interviews in the field. o Respond to questions the participants may have about the assessment.
• Share field notes and have brief discussions with the supervisor at the end of each day to discuss any challenges, solutions, and experiences.
• Comply with the requirements necessary for conducting successful interviews using qualitative methods.
• Ensure confidentiality of data collected and information.
• After field visits
• Ensure that all data captured is always kept secure.
• Ensure all the modules are complete and are submitted to the National Server o Submit all participants’ consent forms to the supervisor.
• Write a field report.

Required Qualifications:
• MB ChB; at least a diploma in Midwifery with experience of 3 years in the public or private sector.
• OR At least a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health with 3 years’ experience
• A certificate in Research Ethics will be an added advantage.
• Previous experience with qualitative data collection on similar studies with a reputable research organization.
• Basic Knowledge of EmONC.

Skills
• Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate in English both orally and in written form.
• Must be computer literate and able to use the ODK tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player.
