Overview
Save the Children International Uganda, is currently recruiting the Field Technical Coordinators for USAID/BHA funded Uthabiti: Building Resilience through Market-Led Livelihoods Opportunities Project. The Field Technical Coordinators will spearhead the implementation of USAID/BHA funded Uthabiti: Building Resilience through Market-Led Livelihoods Opportunities project in Lamwo (Palabek) & Isingiro (Nakivale) refugee settlements. The Field Technical Coordinators will have direct responsibility for the project team, reporting to the operations Manager. They will be responsible for ensuring that project interventions in the refugee settlements are implanted timely and within budget. S/he will also will be responsible for all coordination with other actors and officials in Lamwo and Nakivale districts, including interactions with other Save the Children projects and teams. The project aims at ensuring that refugee and refugee-hosting households, particularly youth and women, have diversified livelihoods opportunities to meet their basic needs and participate in economic growth through increased opportunities for participation in market-led and diversified livelihoods opportunities, improved access to financial services and productive assets, and build the evidence base for nexus programming in Uganda and globally. The Field Technical Coordinator together with project officers will work closely with nonprofit and for-profit partners who will layer integrated push and pull interventions, with a particular focus on women and youth, that strengthen pro-poor value chains such as bee-keeping, poultry, sesame, and agricultural waste transformation.The Field technical coordinators will work closely and liaise with the other senior project staff in other thematic areas to spur integration and benefit from project synergies within the refugee settlements; while ensuring that project implementation is well aligned to approved design, SCI program quality benchmarks and contributes to SCI's overall country and global outcomes and breakthrough for children.
Experience and skills
Essential:
• Minimum of Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any other related fields of study;
• At least 3-5years of relevant professional work experience in project management, livelihoods, microenterprise development, market led Value chains;
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically
• Strong skills and experience in all aspects of project management, including project monitoring, review & evaluation.
• Substantial experience of developing working relations with private sectors and financial institutions in market led value chains
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and commitment to capacity building of staff.
• Understanding of social relations and commitment to integrate gender, diversity and other power related issues into livelihood programming
• working experience of displacement (refugee) context preferred; and
• Knowledge of a local language will be added advantage
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and commitment to capacity building of staff, with proven skills as a trainer/facilitator and mentor.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles.
