JOB DETAILS:
The Patroller (2) will monitor and maintain the running equipment from Pre-homogenation store, Raw mills, Kilns, Cement Mills, and Pozzolana drier to maximize the efficient operation of the Plant by ensuring safe equipment operating conditions, HSE compliance, maximizing performance, and optimizing resource utilization in order to achieve planned targets on production volumes, product quality, costs, and specific electrical and fuel consumption.

In order to achieve the above objectives, Hima Cement Limited seeks to recruit motivated and competent Patrollers as indicated below:

Job Title: Patroller (2)
Vacancy Code: PX02
Reporting Line: Production Shift Coordinator
Duration: Full time
Duty Station: Kasese

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Monitor performance of the shift in order to reach or exceed production targets and achieve quality and environmental standards.
• Clear blockages along the process (e.g., hanging material in the hoppers, jams).
• Effectively clean the preheater for build-ups during the shift.
• Ensure housekeeping in the Shop of operation.
• Report issues affecting flow to CRO, Shift Coordinator.
• Perform 1st level inspection on equipment.
• Ensure sampling of Ex-RM and feeder material.
• Perform minor repairs on shift with consideration of safety procedures.
• Identify and communicate operational bottlenecks, provide technical requirements, and follow up on technical execution.
• Plan and organize shift activities to meet product quantities within the quality requirements.
• Coordinate with the shift leader to execute minor repairs and ensure notifications are raised.
• Motivate Plant Attendants and improve their performance.
• Support and actively develop team members.
• Ensure compliance with OH&S policies and standards for the shift team.
• Demonstrate strong OH&S compliance to encourage safety culture among the shift team (e.g., 100% PPE compliance, good housekeeping).
• Identify and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during production activities.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Rules and Regulations as per Hima environmental standards and local regulations.
• Drive and support digitalization for improved visibility and utilization across all processes.
• Maintain awareness of plant operating costs (e.g., TSR impact, PRI) and limit the use of HFO, considering these costs regularly in the decision-making process.

Educational Requirements:
• Minimum of Ordinary/National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
• 3+ years’ experience in the cement industry in a similar post.
• Experience in a busy industrial environment preferred.
• Good knowledge of control tools and instruments (i.e., operation logic, regulation modes, and systems).

• Good knowledge of safety regulations and rules applicable in an industrial environment.

• Capable of working with minimum supervision.
