Experience and Other requirements:
• Membership to Uganda Statistical Society
• Membership to an International Statistics Institute or any other statistical association will be an added advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good working knowledge of statistical analysis software and report writing packages
• Leadership and negotiation skills
• Planning and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• High ethics and integrity, results oriented, self-motivated, creative, dependable, flexible and co-operative
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards

Qualifications:
• A Master’s Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Population Studies, Economics, or related discipline.
• A Bachelor Degree with Honors in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Economics and Statistics, Mathematics and Economics or Population Studies is a must
• Post-graduation certificates in Statistics or Public Administration, Management, Monitoring and Evaluation will be added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Promote the use of best practices in statistical production and dissemination of official statistics.
• Spearhead the development and implementation of strategic plans for statistics, the annual Budget, Work plans, procurement plans and training plans for the section
• Plan and carry out studies, surveys and censuses required to have statistical indicators complete and comparable in line with the international standards and guidelines.
• Develop and implement methodologies and procedures of compilation of statistics indices /matrices in line with international guidelines.
• Develop statistical guidelines and methodologies in line with the international best practices for computing: Demographic, Social, Environmental and Economic indicators.
• Spearhead regular production of statistical indicators and analytical reports necessary for policy formulation, development, planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of programmes.
• Provide technical guidance and quality assurance in the production of and dissemination of indices for the section.
• Undertake capacity building, coaching and mentoring and on-job training in statistical compilation, data analysis and research of staff in the section. In addition, manage staff in the section, undertake staff appraisal, document and ensure proper accountability of resources.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
