The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda), is an organization contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease. TASO has received a sub-award from FHI 360 to implement the Catalyzing accešs to new prevention products to stop HIV (CATALYST) study in three regions of Uganda: Northern Region (Kitgum Hospital and Gulu Regional Referral Hospital), Eastern Region (Bison HC Ill, Malaba HCIII and Namakwekwe HCIII) and Southwestern—Ankole region (Bufunda HCIII and Mbarara Municipal HCIV). The study is part ofthe Maximizing Options to Advance Informed Choice for HIV Prevention (MOSAIC) Project, a 5-year global project funded by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The main objective is to ensure that individuals, especially women, can protect themselves from acquiring HIV and other infectious diseases by accelerating introduction and scale-up of new biomedical prevention products and expediting their availability, acceptance, uptake and impacts in PEPFAR programs. In an effort to deliver on the expected mandate, TASO requires the services of dedicated, competent, innovative, and result-oriented individuals for employment on a contract basis for the posts below;

Classification: Contract-Full time
Reports To: MOSAIC- CATALYST study Technical Lead/Bioethicist Administratively, to Center Program Manager (Gulu, Mbarara, Tororo COE)
Salary: Commensurate with training and experience
Duty Station: Study sites: Kitgum Hospital, Mbarara Municipal HCIV, Malaba

Directly Supervises: Study Nurses
Collaborates with: Facility Service Providers
Main Purpose of the Job: To ensure that study activities at the research site follow the study protocol and operating procedures.
Key Outputs
MOSAIC-CATALYST study activities implemented according to protocol and in compliance with GCP/HSP principles
Study data collected accurately and consistently
• Study data queries resolved
• Study records maintained according to study manual and protocol
• Study nurses supervised, motivated and appraised
• Site study work plans and reports prepared and submitted on time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Participate in study-related training
2. Participate in development and review of study materia vities in line with the requirements of approved proposals/protocols
3. Review and/or assist in the development of site-specific operating procedures
4. Review translated versions of study tools
5. Ensure timely recruitment and accrual of the study participants at the site
6. Oversee the recruitment, training and supervision of study nurses on site, including planning logistics for successful study implementation
7. Coordinate data collection for the study at the assigned site.
8. Communicate immediately any staff changes at the site to the country study coordinator to ensure that all site staff involved in study operations have been appropriately trained
9. Onboard and facilitate research related trainings (SOPs, study collection tools) to new site staff
(Study nurses, facility service providers, community outreach workers)
10. Be responsible for identifying SAEs, social harms and protocol deviations or violations and reporting them through the appropriate channels (i.e. ensuring they are entered into the database and communicated via phone call to the Country SC on the day they are identified) and then proper filing of correspondences that relate to the site.
11. Ensure all study participants provide informed consent and that consent forms are well completed and properly stored.
12. Monitor that confidentiality of participants and other ethics principles are adhered to by research and service delivery staff at the site.
13. Monitor the progress of site study activities; develop and maintain records of study activities and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, as required.
14. Ensure availability of study materials and supplies at the study site including current versions and copies of consent forms, study data collection instruments, enrollment registers/logs, and all other required materials.
15. Monitor accountability of study product and study-related lab commodities, Including proper use, storage and stock.
16. Work closely with the study data team to ensure completeness and quality of data, including follow-up of data queries or discrepancies.
17. Work with site facility management to coordinate research activities at the site, including keeping them up to date on progress and addressing any issues that impede the success of study operations or standard service delivery.
18. Coordinate study progress meetings with country team staff as needed (in-person, Skype calls).
19. Frequently update the Lead SC on progress and issues that impact implementation and recommend appropriate action.
20. Attend study meetings with research team and investigators as required.
21. Support any community engagement activities necessary for study implementation.
22. Participate as needed in data analysis conversations.
23. Perform any other duties related to the study.
Person specifications: site study officer
• Minimum Academic Qualifications: A Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health. A Bachelor's degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB), Public health or Nursing degree will be an added advantage.
Additional Training
• A related post graduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Evidence of having attended training in Good Clinical practice and Human Subjects protection
Required Experience and Exposure
• Must have at least 3 years' experience on a field team conducting research studies
• At least 2 years of supervising a data collection team
• At least 5 years' experience in providing technical assistance and mentorship of HCWs in TB & HIV/AIDS prevention and community linkages within MO d systems
• Experience as a data collector on a health-related research within an electronic data collection platform preferred
Special Knowledge
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in TB and HIV/AIDS management, prevention and community referral and linkages as per the national community referral and linkages framework. Good working knowledge of TB and HIV/AIDS prevention programs, strategies, processes and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate results of HIV/AIDS programs,
• Specialized knowledge and experience in Community Health and stakeholder engagement skills and attributes
• Knowledge of USG programmmg policies and regulations, Mol-I and district procedures and practices.
Key Skills
• Program coordination and management skills
• Computer competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to effectively manage and work as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Ability to communicate in both spoken/written English and relevant local language {Luo,
• Kiswahili, Lumasaba, Jopadhola and Runyakitara} required Willingness to work in rural settings
