Job summary
The Social Worker will lead the day-to-day direct implementation of field program/OVC activities in liaison with the district OVC project officer. S/he will ensure mobilization of vulnerable persons and communities for social protection, HIV prevention, and care services in line with MGLSD and PEPFAR guidelines within his/her catchment area.
Key duties & responsibilities:
● Work with Para-Social Workers to conduct household beneficiary assessment to identify specific OVC needs for program support using approved OVC tools
● Working with clinical partners to identify leading capacity building initiatives among OVC service providers at various levels.
● Supporting roll out curricula-based initiatives aimed at empowering OVC with life skills and knowledge to prevent HIV and attain decent livelihood.
● Building systems to ensure effective referral and linkages for OVCs to community support structures.
● Support collection and monitoring of Viral load result from the health facilities
● Work with District OVC project officer to conduct quarterly review meetings
● Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the district project officers on the progress of project activities
● Ensuring high quality reporting of OVC activities through set national information management systems and funder databases.
● Promoting access and utilization of child protection services among vulnerable children, youths and their household members.
● Strengthening provision of high quality health care packages for OVCs and their households to avert the effects of HIV and AIDS.
● Supporting OVC household to come up with case plan goal and how to achieve them.
● Document and report family and child success stories based on program intervention.
● Strengthening referral network at the sub-county level
● Carrying out monthly data collection, analysis and reporting on OVC activities in the supported district.
Qualifications/ skills/experience
● The ideal candidates for this position should preferably hold Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work & Social Administration (SWASA), Social sciences, Education, Community Psychology or Public Health or any related qualification.
● A minimum of three years’ work experience in a field position with an organization in public health or OVC programming.
● S/he should have computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
● Demonstrable good communication and community mobilization skills
