JOB DETAILS:
The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries mandated to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda. The agency wishes to recruit the following;

Job Title: Laboratory technologist
No. of Vacancy: Four (04)
Starting date: Immediately
Duration of commitment: 1 Year Renewable Contract
Salary Expectation: Attractive
Location: Various AnGRCs/Centre Farms (Rubona, Maruzi)
Reporting To In-charge Laboratory
Overall Job Purpose:
To perform routine laboratory functions which include collecting, testing, processing, analyzing and storage of biological samples in NAGRC&DB Laboratories
Age Limit: 25 - 45 Years

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Management and routine maintenance of laboratory infrastructure
• Perform routine laboratory functions to support scientific experiments and investigations
• Set up, tests, adjusts, calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment and apparatus such as titrators, pH meters and centrifuges
• Record, analyze and write reports, review and summarize the findings of experiments and trials
• Collect and prepare samples, solutions, cultures and specimens and ensures safe disposals of wastes
• Adhere to strict health and safety regulations vii. Stay up to date with relevant scientific developments that can improve the efficiency of lab operations
• Undertake any other official duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
• A Degree in laboratory science from a recognized institution
• Should have good communication and interpersonal skills
• Should be a good team player with willingness to learn, be corrected and supervised
• Working experience as a Laboratory technician of at least Two (02) years from a reputable organization
