JOB DETAILS:
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire suitable candidates for the position of Nurse Tracker for the SEARCH SAPPHIRE Study (Phase B) to be based in South Western & South Central Uganda. The Nurse Trackers will follow up participants within the communities and support clients with drug adherence. The successful candidates will report to the site Clinical Officers.
Job description:
1. Responsible for recruitment and follow up of participants within the communities, especially those who miss appointments.
2. Oversee the linkage of study participants from the communities to the health center.
3. Collection of electronic data from participants.
4. Prepare a list of clients who have missed clinic appointments.
5. Make home follow-ups of clients who have not come for their clinic appointments.
6. Counsel clients on adhering to their drugs and clinic appointments.
7. Provide back up to the study staff at the clinic and outreaches.
8. Proper identification and reporting of adverse events.
9. Foster a good working relationship with clients and the participating communities.
10. Counsel clients on PrEP adherence and follow up on clients who need to be supported during the study.
11. Make reports on clients followed up and the outcomes as well as activity reports.
12. Attend to clients as a clinical services team member.
13. Support VHTs to conduct study related activities in the community.
14. Participate in study outreaches to the community.
15. Attend weekly study meetings to provide study updates and reports.
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time depending on the changing needs of the project.
Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
1. A Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing from a recognized institution; a Bachelor’s degree in nursing is an added advantage.
2. A minimum of two years of progressive working experience in an HIV research setting, with good knowledge of research ethics.
3. Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council with a valid practicing license.
4. MUST be able to ride a motorcycle.
5. Must have up-to-date GCP/HSP training certificates.
6. Good computer skills and interpersonal skills.
7. Excellent knowledge (both oral and written) of Runyankole fluency and or Luganda languages.
