National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation in the Water sector in Uganda with a Vision “To be the Leading Customer Service Oriented Utility in the World” seeks to recruit suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions mentioned below:

EJA 07 /2018: Generator Technician – 05 POSITIONS
REPORTS TO: Mechanical Engineer – Generator Maintenance

MAIN PURPOSE:
Maintains availability, reliability and maintainability of generator power systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

• Perform repairs and services on all makes and models of generator sets.
• Inspections, repairs, services and start-up load bank test requirements on equipment.
• Troubleshooting equipment and servicing generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
• Apply proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, diagnosis, and engine operating performance tests.
• Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps, determine corrective action through inspection of failed parts.
• Repair and troubleshooting engines such as Perkins, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, Volvo and others.
• Prepares specification for equipment, components/spare parts and sub-assemblies to be procured
• Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports
• Prepares monthly and situational specific reports
• Performs any other job assigned

THE PERSON
In order to be considered for this position, the applicant must have at least three years’ experience in the related field, preferably in a utility and should possess the following:

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION/TRAINING
2) Qualifications

Ordinary Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized technical institute

3) Experience

• Three years’ working experience in the related field, preferably in a utility
• Age Limit: Below 35 years of age.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

• Possesses a high level of initiative, commitment to work, ability to meet tight deadlines, excellent communication and inter personal skills
• Be good player, highly motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision
• Be able to work independently, produce results and meet set targets
• Be able to demonstrate high levels of customer care
• Be willing to work in any designated operational Area in Uganda
• Should not have any criminal record
