JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose / Objective:
i. Responsible for assembling and installing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) within concrete structures to provide strength and stability to road construction projects.
ii. Contribute to the construction of robust and durable road structures by skilfully installing steel reinforcement bars in concrete elements, enhancing their strength and longevity.
iii. Conducts the precise placement of rebar according to engineering drawings and specifications to ensure the structural integrity of the road infrastructure.

Job Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Rebar Installation:
i. Interpret engineering drawings and plans to accurately position and install rebar within concrete forms.
ii. Attach and secure rebar using wire, clips, or other fastening methods as required.
2. Quality Assurance:
i. Inspect rebar for defects, such as rust, damage, or deviations from specifications.
ii. Ensure that rebar is properly aligned and placed to meet engineering standards.
3. Safety Compliance:
i. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling and placing rebar.
ii. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents.
4. Collaboration: Coordinate with other construction team members, such as concrete workers and engineers, to ensure proper rebar placement.
5. Cutting and Shaping:
i. Cut and shape rebar using cutting tools to fit specific areas and structures.
ii. Ensure accurate dimensions and shapes according to project requirements.
6. Concrete Pouring Support: Assist in the preparation of concrete pouring by placing spacers and supports to maintain proper rebar position during concrete placement.
7. Material Handling:
i. Transport rebar to the work area and position it for installation.
ii. Organize and store rebar materials to prevent damage or contamination.
8. Documentation: Maintain records of rebar installation activities, including quantities, dimensions, and specifications.
9. Collaboration: Coordinate with construction teams to communicate test results and provide recommendations.
10. Performs any other duty as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

1. Accuracy of Installation: Measure the precision and accuracy of rebar placement against engineering drawings.
2. Quality of Rebar: Evaluate the quality of rebar in terms of defects and adherence to specifications.
3. Efficiency: Assess the speed and efficiency of rebar installation processes.
4. Safety Compliance: Monitor adherence to safety protocols and guidelines during installation.
5. Material Utilization: Evaluate the efficient utilization of rebar materials without wastage.

Work Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
1. Technical Skill: Proficiency in accurately placing and securing rebar within concrete structures.
2. Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and plans for proper rebar installation.
3. Precision: Attention to detail and accuracy in aligning and securing rebar.
4. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE usage to prevent accidents.
5. Physical Endurance: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and positioning rebar.
6. Team Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration with other construction team members.
7. Time Management: Efficiency in meeting project deadlines for rebar installation.
