JOB DETAILS:
Sim Plastics (U) Ltd is a plastics manufacturing company dealing in the production of different shapes of plastic containers mainly supplied to our sister company Movit Products Ltd.
The company is seeking to recruit a highly competent, motivated and professional individual to fill the position of Accountant.
Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Accounting and Financial Management function of Sim Plastics Uganda Limited.
Reporting to: Senior Accountant .

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Enter invoices and payment vouchers into the computerized accounts system (Review invoices and payment vouchers entered into the computerized accounting system)
• Check vouchers submitted for payment by the accounts assistant
• Prepare and submit periodical expenditure reports to the Finance & Administration Manager.
• Processing the staff payroll on a monthly basis (and weekly basis for the production assistants)
• Prepare and submit monthly tax returns to URA, and NSSF respectively
• Ensure correct stock records are kept by the Stores Assistant (personal)
• Supervise preparations of financial transactions by the Accounts Assistant
• Maintain the debtors and creditors’ ledgers
• Responsible for safe custody of books of Accounts and financial documents
• Mentor and supervise the Accounts Assistant and ensure that the transactions are accurately and timely recorded, reconciled and maintained in order to provide support to financial and management reporting.
• Support Finance & Administration Manager in budget preparation and monitoring process
• Coordinate and liaise with external and internal auditors.
• Ensuring compliance to internal controls and accounting principles
• Maintaining an up to date assets register and ensuring that fixed assets are correctly depreciated.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• B.Com (Accounting) or BBA (Accounting option).
• Part or Full Professional certification in CPA/ACCA.
• Excellent knowledge of ERP-SAP systems.
• Relevant working experience of at least 3 years.
• Analytical and logical abilities, with a high attention to detail.
• High degree of flexibility in terms of working hours and ability to beat deadlines.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting procedures and general controls with a high degree of compliance.
• High degree of integrity and confidentiality.
