Job Summary:
Finca Uganda, a leading financial institution committed to building tomorrow together, is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in finance and accounting, ready to contribute to Finca Uganda’s mission of financial inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ugandan financial regulations.
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management review.
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborate with the finance team to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Ensure proper tax compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and other statutory deductions, in coordination with regulatory bodies.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and organizational goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from a recognized institution.
- Professional certification in Accounting, such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in banking or a similar accounting role, preferably in the financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance in Uganda.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar systems) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in financial data.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with team members, auditors, and management.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
- Familiarity with the operations of microfinance or financial institutions is an advantage.
