Knowledge, Skills & Competences
• Able to work effectively in a multi-site organization, requiring strong communication, organization & negotiation skills.
• Excellent English language skills, both written and oral with practical computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft office and excel.

Responsibilities
Over all Job Purpose
• The Administration and Operations Director ensures everyday administration, operations, and logistics of Sozo Children in Uganda run smoothly and efficiently to achieve the organization's objectives in cooperation with the Country Director and USA Leadership.
• The position holder shall foster a culture of excellence and accountability, develop clear policies and procedures for the support departments, and ensure that organizational resources are used most cost-effectively.
• The Administration and Operations Director has to hold to the mission, vision, and core values of Sozo Children and must be willing to sign Sozo Children’s Statement of Faith.
• The Administration and Operations Director reports directly to the Country Director in Uganda and is responsible for upholding the policies as set forth by the Board of Directors in the United States.
• The responsibilities of the position holder include but are not limited to, the duties defined in this responsibility description.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
• Ensure operational excellence through the effective use of time, talent, finance and other resources to generate the maximum impact for the children served.
Strategic Alignment and Budgeting
• Ensure development of departmental plans and budgets in alignment with Sozo’s strategic plan and make recommendations for mid-course corrections when departments drift from plans.
Effective Communication
• Implement and continually evaluate systems and processes that support effective and efficient communication.
HR Management
• Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation and continual development of staff in alignment with Sozo Children’s core values, mission and vision.
• Risk Management – Identify areas of potential risks and implement solutions to minimize or mitigate risks.
Financial Responsibility
• To participate in the Uganda Budget planning and financial meetings.
• Ensure weekly and timely accountability for the support department in accordance with Sozo Children principles.
Qualifications
• A master’s Degree of Business Administration or Equivalent Experience.
• Qualification and or experience in finance management shall be an added advantage.
Details of experience
• A Minimum 10 years’ experience working directly in a child care focused NGO
• Experience in managing and leading other staff teams.
• Experience with working in nonprofits organizations is strongly preferred.
