JOB DETAILS:
Regen Harvests, an agri-food business under Rootical Venture Studio, is empowering smallholder farmers in Uganda by providing Crop Advance Payments and linking them to reliable markets. They are seeking a dedicated Agronomist (Extension Worker) to join their team in Kaliro District, Busoga Area.

About the Role
As an Agronomist, you’ll train and support farmers in regenerative farming practices, focusing on soil health, agroecology, and sustainable food systems. You’ll also play a key role in scaling production capacity and ensuring farmers align with the Regen Harvest business model.

Key Responsibilities
Farmer Training & Capacity Building
• Train farmers on regenerative techniques like crop rotation, organic soil enrichment, and pest management.
• Conduct farmer field schools and educate on agroecology principles.

On-Ground Agricultural Support
• Provide hands-on support in planting, weeding, and soil restoration.
• Guide farmers on water use, composting, and crop health monitoring.

Market & Post-Harvest Support
• Train farmers on post-harvest handling, storage, and value addition.
• Assist in market linkages and transportation logistics.

Community Engagement & Business Model Alignment
• Communicate the Regen Harvest model to farmers and ensure buy-in.
• Foster partnerships with farmer groups and cooperatives.

Qualifications
• Diploma in Agroecology, Agronomy, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in regenerative agriculture training.
• Proficiency in Lusoga (Lulamogi is an added advantage).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Passion for regenerative farming and community development.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Train 60+ farmers per quarter on regenerative practices.
• Achieve a 20% increase in crop yields through regenerative techniques.
• Facilitate market linkages for 80% of participating farmers.
• Onboard 120+ farmers into the Regen Harvest model within the first year.
