JOB DETAILS:
Your Responsibilities
Supervision of Section Managers and Field Assistants and ensure they execute the following operations and activities of the farm:

Land & Environment
• Establish and confirm the total land area including the boundary demarcation.
• Protection and Care of everything grown on the farm including indigenous/exotic forest, bush, and grass. Grass/Bush fires must always be prevented and/or stopped.
• Prevention of any illegal squatters from cultivating or occupying the land/forest.
• Stoppage and Prevention of any destruction of the land e.g.: soil erosion, avoidable flooding, charcoal burning etc.
• Poaching of wildlife is to be prevented/stopped in accordance with the law.
Farming Activities
Ensure all field operations are well planned, organized and supervised by the Section Managers for the smooth running of the section. This will involve the implementation of all aspects of clonal coffee husbandry for optimum production in both quantity and quality, and as agreed in consultation with the Agronomy Manager.

People and Process Management
Ensure that the Section Managers and Field Assistants have:
• Allocated and supervised farm labor in the best way possible.
• Recruitment of sufficient and suitable labour for the farm. All labour must be older than 18 years of age ensuring no employment of underage/Juveniles in the sections or on the farm.
• Proper onboarding of all new employees at the farm and supervisor of the same. All new employees are taken through the Company Policies and Regulations.
• Daily checking of the labor records e.g.: muster rolls, labor allocation, overtime, absenteeism, sick pay, and annual leave etc. with a view to ensuring that entries have been made properly and correctly.
• Labor welfare and the general standard/hygiene of the workers living quarters are in accordance with the law.
• Ensure frequent training, encourage, and create a conducive working environment in the farm to achieve maximum output from the labor force.
• First aid kits are kept with adequate medical accessories including the facilitation to hospitals in cases of emergency or an accident.
• All discipline and unusual personnel matters are reported to you or the Agronomy Manager immediately.
Facility/Building, Machinery and Stores Management
• Ensure good care, maintenance, safety and security of all buildings and loose assets, all farm equipment’s/implements and machinery on the farm including timely servicing, scheduled maintenance, reporting of major breakdowns and proper record keeping of the processes, inventory management and insurance of all farm equipment.
• Proper management of all produce such as coffee seedlings, coffee, as well as all stocks of farming inputs e.g.: fertilizers, pesticides etc. that may be held in the farm-section store from time to time. This includes stock taking from time to time to prevent damage or loss and prevent any expired stocks at section stores.
• Ensure timely requisition of enough farming inputs e.g.: fertilizers, pesticide etc. in consultation with yourself and/or your Agronomy Manager.
• Ensure timely delivery of picked coffee by all sections to the wet mill for processing.

Reporting, maintenance and management of farm records and returns:
• Maintenance and management of farm records including field task and operations records, picking, and harvesting records, labour records including leave records, mid and end month wages.
• Daily, monthly, and annual reporting in line with the requirements of the farm
• Assist and guide the Section Managers in preparation of the annual budget with some guidance from the Agronomy Manager. You will be expected to ensure the section managers do regular crop production estimates and revise the budget accordingly.
• Ensure the sections/Estate Inventory records are updated and submitted on time.
• Any other duties assigned to you by your supervisor from time to time.

Your Profile
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, horticulture, or related agricultural sciences
• Expertise in Robusta and Arabica coffee agronomy, knowledge of coffee sustainable farming practices, agroforestry or related agricultural field is an asset.
• Strong planning skills and ability to generate innovative solutions in highly dynamic work situations.
• People skills
• Fluent in English/ Luganda is an added advantage.
• Must have an impeccable character and high integrity.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision while meeting deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and further their qualifications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Collaborative skills.
