Job Description

The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) program is a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, refine and develop tools and approaches, invest in national programs, and build data to empower national governments to pursue and maintain elimination.
PATH seeks to recruit an Analyst for the Integrated Surveillance Capacity Assessment and Planning for Neglected Tropical Diseases Project. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Analyst will work closely with national programs, subnational health authorities, and other key partners, under the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO), to generate evidence on the current state, barriers, and opportunities for developing or strengthening an integrated surveillance and response framework for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)—including elements of data quality, data use, platforms, or processes, for periods after validation or verification of elimination.
Responsibilities:
1. Support landscaping activities aimed at assessing the current state, barriers, and opportunities for integrated elimination and post-validation/verification surveillance (PVS) and response for onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, and trachoma, specifically including utilization of surveillance systems outside of platforms established for NTDs
2. Review evidence around the feasibility and adaptability of existing NTD and non-NTD surveillance systems at national and subnational level for integrating NTD surveillance for PVS
3. Participate the design of a toolkit to guide the assessment and planning of integrated PVS and response for lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, and trachoma
4. Support data collection activities such as key stakeholder consultations; participate in data analysis; track and archive data and research results.
5. Develop trainings and deliver tutorials to support in-country staff in use of developed toolkit
6. Prepare reports and presentations to disseminate evidence to wider team, national NTD programs, collaborators and global policy makers
Required Experience
1. Graduate degree in a related discipline (medicine, public health, epidemiology, infectious disease, or a related area) required
2. A minimum of 3 years of work experience in public health field research or surveillance design, implementation, and analysis (e.g., quantitative and/or qualitative survey methods, disease surveillance, experimental and quasi-experimental study )
3. Experience working with international program or surveillance evaluations that use routine national and publicly available data sources, such as health information management system (HMIS), geospatial, and programmatic coverage data
4. Ability to review existing research, literature, and resources to contribute to the creation of evidence-based materials and research instruments
5. Strong organizational skills, high level of attention to detail, and effectiveness under deadlines
6. Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills; adept at working closely with others over geographical distance
7. Ability to work both independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
8. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
9. Willingness and ability to travel estimated at 10% of the time
10. Legal authorization to work in the PATH office country
