About YARID
Young African Refugees for Integral Development (YARID) is a registered NGO based in Kampala, founded in 2007 by young Congolese refugees living in Uganda.

The mission of YARID is to empower refugees, orphans and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) around Africa to overcome the burdens of deprivation and vulnerability to become healthy, educated, self-sustaining and contributing members of society.

YARID unites urban refugees through avenues like sports, English classes, and vocational skills training in order to address social issues like ethnic conflicts, unemployment, public health, and lack of access to education. Refugees that YARID serves mainly come from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda Burundi, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia.

Job Overview/Summary
As an Assistant Education lead you will play a key role in coordinating, bridging programs, managing the English for Adults program, ICT, overseeing training initiatives, participating in coordination meetings at local, national, and international levels, preparing comprehensive reports, and providing crucial support to the field team.

Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategic plans: Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans for the education department, focusing on programs such as Bridging and English for Adults.
• Ensure alignment with organizational goals: Ensure that educational programs align with the broader goals of the organization and address community needs effectively.
• Collaborate with curriculum developers: Work closely with curriculum developers to maintain and enhance the quality of educational programs.
• Oversee planning and implementation: Take charge of planning and implementing effective educational curricula or program designs.
• Provide guidance and support: Offer guidance and support to field teams involved in educational initiatives.
• Monitor field activities: Regularly monitor field activities to ensure compliance with program goals and standards.
• Analyze program data: Conduct thorough analysis of program data for comprehensive and timely reporting purposes.
• Submit progress reports: Prepare and submit reports detailing program progress, challenges, and outcomes to the education manager and stakeholders.
• Participate in coordination meetings: Actively participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
• Collaborate with other departments: Work collaboratively with other departments to align educational programs with organizational goals.
• Develop and facilitate training sessions: Develop and conduct training sessions for staff and field teams to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Engage with the community: Actively engage with the community, parents, and local leaders to foster positive relationships and ensure programs meet community needs and any other duty assigned to you.

Qualifications
▪ Bachelor's degree in Education from a recognized institution.
▪ Proven 3 years experience in educational program management or similar role as an assistant education manager.
▪ Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
▪ Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems.
▪ Familiarity with budget management and technology integration.
▪ Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community engagement.
▪ Fluency in English.
▪ Knowledge of languages spoken by refugees such as French, Swahili, etc. will be considered an added advantage.
▪ Excellent digital literacy competencies and conversant with ecommerce platforms.
▪ Excellent communication skills and ability to convey information effectively both in verbal and written formats.
▪ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
▪ Knowledge of urban/community development.
▪ Service-oriented with good interpersonal and facilitation skills.
▪ Experience in skilling sectors and with refugees is considered an added advantage.
▪ Candidates with displacement experience are encouraged to apply.
