CCSCEC is a Chinese company with over 60 years of existence. It is the largest construction company in the world by revenue and the 14th largest general contractor in terms of overseas sales, as of 2016. It is upgrading Kapchorwa—Suam Road from gravel to asphalt, this rural road is in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The road links Kapchorwa, through Kween to Suam, at the international border with Kenya.

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Leads the blasting team in preparation of drill patterns for blasting based on loading instructions received from Supervisor-Blasting
• Organizes, directs and implements safe practices for the blast crew to complete blast pattern loading. Ensuring instructions are clearly communicated and understood by all members of the blast crew
• Complete loading and detonation of blast patterns in a productive manner to ensure timely, safe blasts in accordance with, Company policy and Procedures and expected industry safeguards and standards
• Provision of timely and complete reports to Supervisor
• Blasting including reports for production, planning, equipment damage, injury, supplies, status of inventory ordering and outcomes of blasts
• Conduct weekly magazine inventory counts and inspections
• Assists in the evaluation of preliminary blast schedules and prepares general conditions reports
• Other related duties
REQUIREMENTS
• Must possess atleast 5 years of experience on a similar project
• Proven ability to work under deadlines recognizing production targets and the importance of sufficient blasted inventory for continued mining
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Mine rescue training and experience is an asset
• Can successfully complete all necessary paperwork legibly and correctly
• Must have and maintain an Original National Identification Card
• Blasting certification is required
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol and medical/physical capability requirements
