JOB DETAILS:
Job Overview
The Re:BUiLD Research Manager in coordination with the Re:BUiLD Research Coordinator and Re:BUiLD Project Manager will play a critical role in the project’s evidence and learning unit to carry out activities in support of the economic programming research priorities. The Research Manager will be specifically responsible for:
(i) Coordinating across the various actors involved in research including country teams, academic partners, donors, and internal departments across IRC;
(ii) Providing support with business development for research activities and managing research projects, and
(iii) Support the Research Coordinator in reporting research activities and progress to donors, and internal and external audiences. This position requires strong research management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong background in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and methodologies.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Work closely with research and program teams to coordinate research studies and ensure research adheres to IRC research standards.
• Conduct data collection training, piloting, and implementation of research projects.
• Conduct data analysis and synthesis under the guidance of the researchers.
• Assist the research coordinator in donor reporting as needed.
• Ensure development and uptake of research products.
• Take initiative to implement tasks needed within research projects with oversight from the research coordinator.
• Developing field research protocols, data collection team training, and survey implementation.
• Carrying out desk, quantitative, and qualitative data analysis of existing secondary data sets as well as qualitative and quantitative data analysis of primary data sets.
• Organizing, designing, and carrying out qualitative fieldwork often with refugees and selected host or vulnerable people in different locations and contexts.
• Producing high-quality and multifaceted research outputs for a range of audiences including analysis, report writing, and presentations where necessary.
• Taking ownership of research management and administration. This will include taking personal responsibility for key elements of work as well as leading and supporting others in the team.
• Working on survey tool development, programming, and implementation.

Key Working Relationships:
• Position Reports to: Re:BUiLD Research Coordinator
• Indirect Reporting: Re:BUiLD Program Manager
• Position directly supervises: Research Assistants
• Other Internal and/or external contacts:
• Internal: ERD TU, Airbel Impact Lab, country program counterparts, and other technical units.
• External: academic research partners, principal investigators.

Qualifications
• •Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Research Methodology, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in research management or analysis, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
• Experience with at least two survey programming languages is required.
• Proficiency with Stata and Excel Microsoft office tools is required.
• Experience with handling large data sets.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
• Excellent management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to optimally coordinate work ie both on email, teams, and phone.
• Flexible, self-motivating, and a team player.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders (Principal Investigators and partner organizations).
• Solid understanding of quantitative and qualitative research designs and methodologies.
• Knowledge of Stata is required.
• Experience or familiarity with implementing Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) is an advantage.
• Experience organizing and implementing quantitative and/or qualitative data collection. Ability to identify and troubleshoot data quality and research implementation issues.
• Knowledge of research ethics such as informed consent and data protection. Experience securing ethics approval and research permits is strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills involving listening to, interacting with, and communicating clearly with people from diverse nationalities and backgrounds with a high degree of professionalism and pro-activity.
• Ability to work efficiently under limited supervision, with remote teams and management structures, and coordinating with internal and external partners.
• Demonstrated experience managing field research teams.
