Job Summary
To plan, manage and monitor the implementation of business planning activities in order to deliver on approved operational plans in an affective and efficient manner.
•To provide extensive support to Head of Markets thus requiring a total understanding of the role, objectives and responsibilities of the Head of Markets and a thorough knowledge of the Group structure, policies and activities. This involves keeping an eye on industry evolution, competitive dynamics and the identification of opportunities that Barclays can seize in the market place
•To co-ordinate the delivery of all infrastructure issues, ensuring systems and processes are working well.
Job Description
Accountability: Reporting
• Work with MI Analyst and prepare the key themes, presentations and reviews for the Head of Markets.
• Prepare the key themes, presentations and reviews for the BU Head and assist with detailed content when required
• Evaluate all material and communication prior to it being reviewed by the Head of Markets ensuring that context, analysis and the views of the respective areas are collated, filtered and summarized in a concise manner.
• Work with the Operating Model Leads and Finance team, ensure reporting requirements to AGL Markets, ALCO, Africa and Absa Executive teams are met on time and to the highest quality.
• Cost control – Monthly control and account review/reconciliation
Accountability: Strategic Management
• To oversee coordination and collation of monthly & quarterly strategic reports for strategic business reviews, board meetings etc ensuring departmental deadlines are met for Market activities and submissions.
• Monitor key strategic initiatives and provide progress reports while following up with Initiative leads to ensure that plans are executed seamlessly.
• Support the Head of Markets in the delivery of an aligned business strategy that takes account of financial performance, Function health [5Cs], balance sheet &risk management) and attainment of required goals and objectives.
• To undertake projects from time to time on behalf of the Head of Markets, examples include management of change, coordination and administration of colleague & customer engagements.
• To update and deliver presentations for staff as may be required.
• The job holder will be expected to undertake any other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of Markets.
• Evaluate, interpret and distribute relevant information to the Head of Markets to ensure that the HoM’s time is not taken up with operational issues that should be resolved elsewhere
• In the event of major issues in the business unit, act as crisis coordinator and allocate tasks to the crisis teams
• Continuously monitor the potential impact of new tactical plans on the reputation risk of the business unit and the Bank and advise Head of Markets on appropriate action to take to minimise the risk.
• Support Head of Markets to achieve Customer service standards/experience and building Absa CIB profile/reputation within the country and sub-region whilst maintaining strong business relationships in and outside Absa
Accountability: Management of Colleagues
• Interface with the Head of Markets direct reports to understand the operating environment and to assist them to execute specific initiatives assigned to them.
• To provide line management support to the Head of Markets by facilitating administration of Performance Development, Training plan, leave and absence management.
• Provide Resource and capacity management by coordinating recruitment, deployment of colleagues.
Accountability: Team Management
• Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
• Establish and maintain a succession plan for the team.
• Assist in Preparing Interviews and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from Human Resources.
• Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met. Plans should be revised at least twice a year.
• Track the delivery of the team and achievements against the team’s annual goals.
• Participate in the creation and implementation of Employee Survey actions for the team.
• Carry out all the actions required to ensure effective leave management
Education
Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
