JOB DETAILS:
General Summary
CAMO-Net’s prestigious Fellowship Programme is offering One fellowship position that will join 10 other fellows from the 13 sites across 11 countries. This nine-month fellowship aims to develop the next generation of researchers with the knowledge and skills needed to optimise antimicrobial use in humans, contributing to CAMO-Net objectives and supporting the sustainability of antimicrobial optimization solutions. The programme is also designed to promote scientific leadership in antimicrobial optimization across the national hubs, technical laboratories, and shadow sites. Fellows will be supported to ensure that their projects provide a thorough, contextual understanding of situational data, with co-produced and evaluated interventions.
The ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in antimicrobial optimization initiatives. They will be able to utilize the resources available through CAMO-Net partner sites and the Central Training Hub, including datasets, peer-to-peer sessions, e-learning platforms, and advanced facilities. Fellows will engage in both virtual and self-paced training, along with capacity-strengthening activities. They will receive guidance and mentoring from AMR specialists and experts across the network. Each fellow will be expected to develop and implement a quality improvement (QI) project at their site, focusing on one of the following thematic areas:
1. Innovation and Technology: Develop QI plans that incorporate advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, clinical decision support, personalized medicine, and the integration of host-pathogen dynamics. Fellows will learn about point-of-care diagnostics, lab-on-chip technology, antimicrobial biosensing, and ensuring medicine quality.
2. Context, Culture, and Behaviors: Lead projects that promote organizational and individual behavior change to improve prescribing practices and stewardship programmes. Fellows will gain insights into health-seeking behaviors, socio-cultural determinants of AMR, and healthcare utilization.
3. Medicines Management: Create QIs that optimize supply chains, address shortages of essential medicines, and ensure continuous access to effective treatments. Fellows will learn about prescribing systems, monitoring frameworks, and quality assurance testing to prevent overuse, misuse, and inappropriate prescribing.
