JOB DETAILS:
Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include
Educational Programming Strategy, Design, and Implementation
• Strengthen the vision, cohesion, and impact of Building Tomorrow’s educational programming to ensure it is effective, engaging, additive, and relevant
• Spearhead the innovation of Building Tomorrow’s unique educational programs to cultivate quality and inclusive programming
• Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning team to create routine reviews of educational programming, mapped against existing international and country-specific toolkits to ensure interventions are aligned and generate learnings
• Seek cost-effective solutions to achieve results at scale for as many children as possible
• Package and adapt Building Tomorrow’s education programming to meet the needs of various audiences and contexts around the world
• Implement a focused research agenda and stay ahead of relevant developments

Networking and Partnership Building
• Stay abreast of latest trends in education and participate in high-level policy and practice forums and share learnings and research with staff
• Keep abreast of the needs and priorities of Building Tomorrow’s educational programs to advocate for appropriate policy and practice shifts with donors, implementing partners, and government counterparts
• Demonstrate a deep appreciation for Building Tomorrow’s commitment to drive fundamental policy and practice changes that will ensure learners are gaining core foundational learning skills
• Participate in the strategic program discussions on program planning with line supervisor and lead discussions with program leads.

Leadership and Management
• Provide technical and operational support, with emphasis on results-based planning and management
• Proactively invest time and care in the support and mentorship of staff to ensure staff are trained on latest education trends
• Design and lead trainings aligned with Building Tomorrow’s pedagogy for staff, fellows, key stakeholders, and other implementing partners
• Embrace responsibility for the recruitment, engagement, and retention of a diverse team of qualified people to deliver superb technical assistance and thought leadership
• Routinely conduct field visits and share information with senior leaderships and relevant stakeholders within local and central government
• Dialogue to cultivate a strong and inclusive culture of performance and collaboration

Must Haves
• Experience in classroom teaching, a variety of both theoretical and practical approaches that are designed to meet the needs of all children is a plus
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing evidence-based educational programs, with a focus on promoting foundational learning
• Proven ability to scaffold curriculum and provide recommendations for remediation and enrichment based on performance and other feedback or experience in a startup environment, building something from nothing
• Fluency in the relevance and use of empirical evidence to know what works best to achieve meaningful literacy, numeracy, and social and emotional learning results.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team of education professionals.
• Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders in the education sector.
• First-rate communication skills (in English), both oral and written, with a keen attention to detail, including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
• Willingness and ability to travel significantly in sub-Saharan Africa, and occasionally outside the continent.
