Job brief
DTEL is Uganda’s leading trading and distribution company with over 50% distribution of FMCG in Uganda. The company is also into manufacturing of own brand and a proud member of Uganda Manufacturers Association. We are looking for an experienced Chief Finance Officer to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Chief Finance Officer’s responsibilities will also include financial risk management. .

Responsibilities
• Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
• Accounting and Finance functions of the company including preparation of the annual operating budget, periodic financial forecasts, monthly management and investment reports
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and support month-end and year-end close process.
• Research and identify any technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Set up a strong Internal and management control systems over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Investment and cash management functions of the company.
• Development, approval process, and control procedures for the company’s operating and capital budgets.
• Budget planning and forecasting to ensure alignment with strategic planning process of the company.
• Review or contracts for compliance with accounting practices and policy.
• Accounting and risk management related training, as necessary.
• Preparation of all statutory filings and reporting required of the company.
• Organize and arrange for company’s external audit and carry out vetting of the external audit firm
• Collaborating with a team of Directors and Managers who supervise the large Finance and Operations Team.
• Tenant leases at the company’s building including the planning and coordination of tenant renewals, relocations and/or construction in the affiliated company’s investments.

Requirements
• 5+ years of proven working experience as a Financial Controller/ Finance Manager Chief Finance Officer/ Finance Director/ etc.
• At least 8+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management or related fields.
• CPA or ACCA or any professional affiliation preferred
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process • Excellent accounting software user and ERP implementation experience
• Financial forecasting and strategic planning experience
• Knowledge of control systems, audit planning, and forensic accounting processes
• Current knowledge of tax and accounting regulations of Uganda and East Africa.
