JOB DETAILS:
Reporting Relationships: The post holder will be reporting to the Country Program Manager.

Duties:
• Provide technical and management leadership to the child protection response plan and the adolescent and caregiver focused programs in accordance with best practices, Partner requirements and HIJRA’s Child Protection Strategy and Policy.
• Ensure that solid CP case management, referral and information management systems are in place for appropriate identification, responses and follow-up of children harmed or at risk of being harmed, and that these processes are happening in a timely manner.
• Ensure the adolescent and caregiver programs are contextualized and supported
• Develop and implement capacity building plans for all areas of child protection programming.
• Participate in development of high-quality concept notes and proposals.
• Coordinate with the child protection working Groups/Sectors or Sub-Sectors on maters related with fundraising advocacy initiatives
• Provide technical guidance and support to program team, other sectors within the organization and partners on all protection related issues.
• Implement and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all protection/solution activities.
• Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
• Provide legal advice and guidance on protection issues to internal and external interlocutors; ensure legal assistance is accessible to children in need of protection and persons of concern and liaising with relevant authorities to ensure the issuance of personal identification and other relevant documents to children in remand homes and other persons of concern.
• Support a consultative process with Government counterparts at local levels, partners and persons of concern to develop and implement integrated strategies that address the key protection priorities, including, for example, child protection, education and solutions approaches.
• Contribute to the Protection information management system by providing disaggregated data on populations of concern and their problems; conducting research, and disseminating relevant protection information, data, and good practices to enhance the delivery of protection interventions and provide technical advice where necessary.
• Establish good relationship with authorities, network of partners and stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on child protection environment, and provide advice to senior management on emerging protection issues.
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Country Program Manager.

Competencies, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• University degree in Law, Human Rights, Community Development, Social Work or other related discipline.
• Five (5) years relevant professional experience, two of which should have been at managerial level preferably in emergency and/or development context.
• Good experience or familiarity with child protection issues/aspects
• Familiarity with guidelines on Protection Support in emergency settings.
• Familiarity with local, regional, and international protection and human rights legal and policy, instruments and standards.
• Good written and spoken English and high proficiency in computer skills.
• Full respect for client/organization confidentiality.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for gender and people with special needs and other vulnerability.
• Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
• Experience in managing a team;
• Excellent analysis and reporting, communication, and organization skills;
• Respect for applicable rules and procedures.
• Ethical and transparent decision-making;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and sometimes, under pressure;
• Experience in working with children in conflict with the Law is of added advantage.
