JOB DETAILS:
Scope of Work
1. Developing fieldwork plans in collaboration with technical advisors.
2. Mobilizing farmers through existing farmer groups, community-based organizations, and other key stakeholders to participate in climate resilience initiatives.
3. Engage other community members (beyond farmers) in participatory process of village-level community climate resilience planning.
4. Train targeted farmers on globally evidence-based models of regenerative agricultural practices based on a sustainable agriculture curriculum.
5. Train and support targeted farmers particularly women and youth in rearing of small livestock (chicken, goat, or others), beekeeping, and fishponds for enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the nutrition of rural households.
6. Train and support targeted farmers, particularly women, on the establishment of intensive kitchen gardens for improved food security and nutrition.
7. Train and support community members including farmers, schools, and other selected learning institutions on establishment of micro-forests.
8. Train and support community members and schools on establishment of rainwater harvesting and micro-irrigation technologies.
9. Collaborate with other environment specialists to support activities leading to identification of soil types, tree species, site locations especially for schools and adaptations for recommendable care for tree techniques.
10. Train and support target smallholder farmers and learning institutions in using mobile-based agriculture applications for access to extension and advisory services including market-related information.
11. Regularly update training materials in collaboration with AKF technical advisors.
12. Prepare, present, and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports to immediate supervisor and other key stakeholders including targeted farmers and community members.
Key Deliverables
• Well documented literature review report(s) for sharing key lesson learnt about global climate challenges including effects for both Uganda and the rest of the world.
• Identification of globally informed good practices that can be locally adapted in the targeted districts.
• Development of project implementation plan including key activities, key milestones, and proposed budgets
• Monthly reports for informing adaptation processes
End of pilot report and plans for scaling up key emerging/promising practices
Expected Qualifications and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, forestry, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development, or related courses
2. Good understanding community development priority issues in Uganda
3. Previous experience of conducting community training or presentations
4. Excellent organizational and time management skills
5. Excellent computer skills
6. Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written, knowledge of Central Uganda and West Nile local languages will be an added advantage.
7. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.

The climate resilient consultant will be required to:
• Develop a technical proposal (not more than six pages) clearly demonstrating how you intend to deliver this assignment
• Clear financial proposal with cost breakdowns that is linked to each activity cost elements
• CV of key proposed team member/s (max. 2 pages)
• Include three references from similar assignments previously undertaken
