Job Overview:
Reports to the Deputy Commissioning Manager and assist in planning and execution of a safe and efficient Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, Start-up, and Performance Testing of the facility to achieve the plant’s production and performance objectives and McDermott’s contractual objectives.
Updating of programs, procedures, and activities necessary for the safe and efficient commissioning, repair, and maintenance of all plant mechanical equipment on a Central Processing Facility in Africa.
Knowledge of OPERCOM on a large oil & gas project is a plus.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively within the Project team and with the Client to maintain positive relationships
• Responsible for the updating of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and testing programs for mechanical equipment and systems
• Responsible for liaison with equipment manufacturers and suppliers for mechanical pre-commissioning, commissioning, and repair procedures for mechanical equipment/packages as required
• Responsible to review and confirm lubrication fluid and grease requirements on the project and development of the Lubrication Schedule
• Develop work plans for the execution of mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
• Develop Safe Work Practice Procedures for all mechanical maintenance activities
• Provide mechanical input to the Commissioning Schedule
• Provide mechanical input to the scope of work subcontracted packages as required
• Provide mechanical input for Spares, Consumables and Tools
• Liaise with the Systems Completion Manager for systemization of drawings and validation of the mechanical data in the completions database
• Liaise with the Preservation and Maintenance Coordinator for planned equipment maintenance activities
• Review the mechanical content of the pre-commissioning and commissioning dossiers in accordance with project requirements
• Interface with the Construction Contractor and SMP Sub-contractor on site for all Pre-commissioning activities
• Plan daily activities based on schedule requirements, procedures, and available work fronts
• Coordinate the issue of PTW and job safety analysis
• Review interfaces with static equipment and piping for coordination of Gross Air Leak Tests, and Commissioning Leak tests
• Work with vendors and assist in Vendor Coordination for SATs and initial start-up
Essential Qualifications & Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• Have pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up experience as a mechanical lead or equivalent, on at least 3 major EPC projects in the oil and gas industry
• 5+ years of previous experience with static and rotating machinery equipment in the oil & gas industry
• Experience with Gas Turbine Packages, Centrifugal Compressors, Fired Heaters, and HP Export/Injection Pumps, as well as de-gassing and deaeration equipment
• Understanding of Static Equipment and Piping systems for the development of test packs
• Familiar with codes and standards of ASME, API, ANSI, EN, and ISO
• Demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of construction and completion activities
• Previous Experience with Completions Databases, and Completions Matrices
• Able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers
• Must have strong English communication skills, both oral and written. Second language is a plus
• Must have excellent computer software skills in MS Office suite as a minimum, with exposure to Navisworks
• Must have good Presentation skills for meetings with Engineering and Client
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be adaptable to various needs of various discipline groups
