JOB DETAILS:
The Organisation
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries. We won’t stop until we are all equal.

The Communications Officer makes an important contribution to the design of PIU's projects, ensuring that any Influencing or Communication that is necessary for project success is factored into the plan and budget, and aligning project activities to the Country Strategy. The role is responsible for leading campaigns in support of project goals, which have the potential to change mindsets and behaviour for a wide variety of stakeholders. The Officer is expected to create content and develop communications materials that will effectively elicit changes in mindset and behaviour. and this requires the job holder to;
• fully understand project goals and have a good understanding of the key technical content and associated influencing agendas,
• identify and segment audiences, genuinely empathising with their unique interests and starting points,
• write &/or develop content (e.g. visuals) that engages and influences them and
• demonstrate highly effective influencing skills both within and outside the organisation engaging and inspiring others to achieve PIU's important goals.
