UGANDA PROTESTANT MEDICAL BUREAU (UPMB)
The Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB), a leading Christian organization coordinating over 317 Member Health facilities all over Uganda is implementing a five-year EFACE project implemented in 5 CDC regions of Uganda (Kampala, Masaka, Mubende, Arua and Soroti regions) The project supports private not-for-profit (PNFP) sites to address gaps through optimization of high yielding HIV Testing and Counseling Services approaches, improved retention and viral suppression, provision of HIV/TB care and treatment, scale up services to reach men and key populations, strengthen the PNFP institutional capacity and quality for sustainable service delivery and contribute to Uganda's efforts in reaching and maintaining epidemic control.
For successful implementation of this project,
UPMB is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to work as part of a professional and self-driven team for the position, to be based in Kampala with routine travels upcountry as follows;
POSITION: Community Engagement and HIV Prevention Officer
Reports to: Technical Advisor Duty Station Kampala
Job Summary:
The Project Officer is responsible for ensuring that project activities are effectively implemented. S/he will also be involved in designing strategies, coordinating stakeholders and implementation of activities as well as contributing to organization- wide learning. The Project officer will work in collaboration with the other team members to strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of FBOs/CBOs/PNFPs to complement the existing

• efforts by GOU, Development Partners, Civil Society and other stakeholders to attain and sustain epidemic control in Uganda by 2020 and Beyond Specifically, the Project Officer will:
• Strengthen Coordination within Faith Networks, Medical Bureaus, Regional Partners and Districts • Support Increased high impact Community based interventions for case finding and linkages • Increased evidence based HIV Prevention interventions to reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting HIV Infection
• Keep abreast of developments in HIV programming and progress in order to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase project performances and results.
• Develop strategies to engage faith leaders, individuals and communities to promote access to health services by the children, women and men living with HIV who are not yet on antiretroviral therapy.
• Linkages
• Increased evidence based HIV Prevention interventions to reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting HIV Infection
• Keep abreast of developments in HIV programming and progress in order to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase project performances and results.
• Develop strategies to engage faith leaders, individuals and communities to promote access to health services by the children, women and men living with HIV who are not yet on antiretroviral therapy.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Superviser consultation with the Project Manager.

Education, Key Competencies and Experience:
• A Bachelor's degree in a, Community health, Public health, health management, Nursing, social sciences or social works and social administration.
• A minimum of four years' experience in providing HIV prevention services, particularly to religious leaders. Experience gained through serving within a Government institution or NGO with proven ability to coordinate activities of different stakeholders at district and or sub national level.
• Hands-on knowledge and skills in designing, planning, implementing and monitoring community activities for HIV prevention for PMTCT.
• Previous experience in implementing and applying Quality improvement approaches and providing training to service providers and stakeholders.
• Good interpersonal, organizational and written / verbal communication skills. Willingness to travel within the supported districts.
