JOB DETAILS:
Main Job Functions:
• Responsible for designing and dimensioning of the VAS & Data network as well as new products and services to support the marketing product.
• Plan and design the network architecture to optimally serve the growth of the VAS network in terms of traffic, subscribers and value-added service capacity.
• Carry out research and feasibility studies for new products and produce standard professional technical reports.
• Design and plan the evolution of Value-Added Services, such as, but not limited to, messaging (USSD & SMS), Mobile Data, WAP, Multimedia products and other Third-Party applications and services.
• Produce Functional and Technical Specification documents for new products and services.
• Participate in cross functional meetings with key stakeholders involved in the development and deployment of new Value-Added Services to define best solutions for new products and services·
• Meet with vendors on new market releases and technology upgrade path to ensure quick deployment of new and innovative products/services.
• Develop UNIX/shell scripts for processing statistics and other data off the VAS platforms.
• Interface with Marketing, business development groups for new services and product development planning
• Primary interface with vendors on technical design, deployment, and maintenance planning issues for VAS/Messaging Systems
• Project management and tracking to ensure that products are launched within specified timelines.
• Ensure VAS performance statistics are accurate and appropriate forecasts for capacity planning are derived.
• Develop technical and tender specification documents to be used during procurement and deployment of new products and solutions.
• To act as technical lead in VAS projects managed by Capital Projects
• Prepare long term evolution plans for VAS/Messaging platforms.
• Champion automation and efficiency in the department
• Ensure that changes on VAS platforms are adequately scoped, and implemented according to existing change management guidelines.

Education:
• BSc Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science.
• Unix/Solaris/Linux and Database Administration Skills.
• 3 years’ experience in VAS planning or operations
• 3 years’ experience in Mobile GSM Network Environment
• 2 years’ experience in UNIX shell scripting, database administration
• Experience working on VAS platforms (USSD, SMSC, DMC, CRBT, etc)
• Competence with Oracle/ MySql Databases.
• Proficiency in UNIX and LINUX operating systems.
• Strong shell scripting skills and Proficiency in at least 1 programming language
• Basic IP networking knowledge

Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in radio planning and optimization which must include:
• Experience across diverse OEM vendors such as ZTE, HUAWEI, ERICSSON
• Experience working with subcontractors to deliver on assigned works
• Experience working with radio planning tools such as ASSET, MAPINFO, google earth
• Strong understanding of different radio network configurations for 2G, 3G, WIFI, WIMAX, LTE and the microwave transmission network.
