JOB DETAILS:
Job Description
2.0 Purpose and scope of the assignment
The overall objective is to develop a solid waste and e-waste management training toolkit and conduct a 2-day training for 18 selected Businesses and Social Institutions.

2.1 Specific undertakings for the assignment
To attain the above objective, the consultant will need to deliver the following actions.
1. Develop a training toolkit for solid waste and e-waste management among renewable energy technology suppliers, Agribusinesses and Social Institutions with citation of existing legal, policy and institutional frameworks on waste management.
2. Undertake a pre-training evaluation for participants to ascertain training needs.
3. Conduct a participatory two- day training for atleast 50 participants.
4. Develop training notes for each training module with illustrations.
5. Undertake a post-training evaluation for participant to assess the level of improved awareness and knowledge on solid waste and e-waste management.
6. Compile and share a training report.

3.0 Approach/ Methodology
The consultant shall use an inclusive competence based and practitioner approach to learning and should be learner centred with the following attributes:
• Rapid Training Needs Assessment: Undertake a rapid training needs assessment to inform the training tool kit development using an online tool.
• Facilitative and Participatory Approach: The training should be facilitative with the consultant acting as a facilitator.
• Case study approach: The consultant should develop case studies as training examples for the participants.
• Training aids: Illustrative design of training content: The trainer should develop elaborate training aids to support transfer of knowledge and skills.
• Training Evaluation: Undertake a skills, attitude, and knowledge assessment at the end of the training.

3.1 Target Audience
The training is targeted for participants drawn from IMEU’s supported businesses and social institutions.
1. Energy Efficient Technology suppliers and manufacturers: clean cooking technologies, Industrial technologies, heating technologies, cooling technologies, lighting technologies water pumping technologies among others
2. Agribusinesses
3. Social institutions: Schools, Hospitals/health facilities, Prisons etc
4. Consortium Partners: Makerere University College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Private sector Foundation Uganda.

4.0 Expected Deliverables
• A Final approved inception report detailing the methodology, timelines, workplan for execution.
• Training notes
• A Final approved solid waste and e-waste management training toolkit
• A Final approved Training report

5.0 Reporting and Supervision.
The consultant shall be technically supervised directly by the Energy Efficiency Expert, IMEU Project. The overall contract management is undertaken by the Project Manager, Inclusive Markets for Energy Efficiency in Uganda Project.

Qualifications
6.0 Required Qualifications, competencies, and experience.
6.1 Qualification and Experience of lead and associate consultants
The Lead consultant should possess an advanced Degree in one of the following disciplines: Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management. The Lead Consultant should evidence experience of atleast 10 years in solid waste and e-waste management and undertaking of similar trainings as well as knowledge in Material Flow Analysis and Product Life Cycle Assessment.
Other Associate Consultant can possess minimum of Degree in Business Management, Education, Communication and Supply Chain Management.

6.2 Consultant competencies
In addition to the above expertise and experience, the proposed team should demonstrate the following competencies.
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and facilitatory skills
• Good understanding of the renewable energy and energy efficiency sub-sector
• Demonstrated documentation and dissemination skills
• Evidenced qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills
• Ability to engage and inspire adult learners.
• Be digital and technological Savvy.

6.3 Requisite documentation for the consultant
• Company Legal registration documents
• Tax Compliance Certificate
• Valid trading license
• Company profile
• CVs of all the proposed staff for the assignment
• References for earlier comparable assignments undertaken

7.0 Timeline, Contracting and Proposed payment terms
The assignment is expected to be undertaken within a maximum of 45 days. The contract shall be a fixed term with all the key activities and deliverables paid based on the value for money offering agreed during negotiation. The proposed payment terms are based on specific quality approved deliverables.
