Self Help Africa Uganda received funding from the Community Foundation for Ireland (CFI) to implement a three-year project titled “Growing Resilience and Eco- Enterprises (GREEN) around Lake Bunyonyi sub-catchment” in Kabale and Rubanda Districts-Southwestern Uganda. The project targets 1000 direct beneficiaries majorly smallholder farmers, women, and youth in five villages of the 2 districts; Kabale-2 and Rubanda-3) building on SHA previous work in the region on water and soil conservation around Lake Buntonyi.

Self Help Africa Uganda urgently seeks to recruit a suitable Consultant to undertake the following task. 

Consultancy to conduct a baseline survey for GREEN project in Kabale district

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager and the Head of Programmes, the Consultant will update indicators and targets, as well as collect baseline data for these updated indicators, as well as providing a deep contextual understanding of ecosystem-based adaptation for rural resilience; analyze structural and underlying causes of household  malnutrition within the project area; identify technically feasible and cost-effective options for nature-based approaches that are gender sensitive and community-led; assess enterprises with potential to drive economic diversification and reduce household food insecurity; identify innovative aspects and their linkage with other project interventions; assess the productivity of agricultural methods used by farming households in the targeted districts and identify risks that are likely to be faced by the project with mitigation strategies for the risks identified. in the project area and mapping stakeholders of the different actors working in the relevant spheres of the project. Key areas of responsibilities include:

1.            Develop data collection tools that will be reviewed by the SHA MEL Advisor at the start of the survey

2.            Write an inception report with detailed study tools

3.            Present, to the relevant stakeholders, the preliminary findings during the validation workshop

4.            Write a final report (1 CD with the report, electronic copy and 4 hard copies).
