Position: Cotton Classifier Trainee
Location: Headquarters

Qualification
Diploma in ginning or electrical engineering.

Desirable attributes:

• Good technical and hands-on skills.
  
• Willingness and eagerness to learn by practical and hands-on training.
  
• Ability to present adequate working papers to enable the supervisor to evaluate work done and matters to be reported.
  
• Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times including observing the confidential nature of the fibre testing and classing profession.
  
• Highly organized with strong organisational and planning skills, ability to prioritize tasks and deliver assessments within short deadlines.
  
• Ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of data and to issue timely reports where required.
  
• Good IT skills.
  

Job Description

• Receiving cotton samples from springiness, spinning mills and other stakeholders.
  
• Preparing routine schedules for carrying out tests on cotton samples.
  
• Assist in carrying out testing and classification of cotton and preparation of the quality certificates.
  
• Assist in analysing, dissemination and keeping records of classification results.
  
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of Official Standards of Uganda cotton lint to accredited bodies for approval. Assist in the preparation and/Setting of Fair Average Quality (FAQ) Cotton Standards for primary cotton marketing.
  
• Assist in basic maintenance of the organisation cotton laboratory and cotton testing equipment.
  
• Assist in designing and disseminating systems for best practices for cotton quality maintenance and/or improvement.
  
• Any other duties that shall be assigned by Management.
