JOB DETAILS:
Our client in Uganda is seeking a Country Manager with a background in the Oil and Gas industry. This pivotal role entails providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the country management team, overseeing all country operations with accountability for financial plans and KPIs. The Country Manager will play a crucial role in driving sustainable growth, strengthening market presence, and cultivating relationships with external stakeholders. Responsibilities
Commercial Management
• Understand the value drivers of the business and identify profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
• Analyse potential opportunities and develop business plans & recommendations to ensure that all business development opportunities are optimized.
• Monitor the business, sales and activity plans in line with the approved budget.
• Monitor competitor activities for competitive advantage.
• Accountable for market analysis, brand support and positioning.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risk across all areas of the business.
• Contribute to the development of new products and services. Provide leadership in sales and product portfolio extension or reduction to meet profitability targets.
• Onboarding high margin commercial customers and growing commercial customer base in additional to developing a clear strategy on achieving this.
Client Relationship and Stakeholder Management
• Represent the Company in dealing with clients and other external stakeholders on all business matters.
• Lead the team to achieve customer retention by providing efficient customer service.
• Establish partnerships with key stakeholders for effective business relationships and networks within industry and other related sectors.
• Participate in contract negotiations with clients and plan for execution.
Operational Planning and Management
• Oversee country operations to ensure efficiency, quality service and cost-effective management of resources and assets.
• Exercise executive stewardship of the Company’s resources.
• Oversee the compliance to the company’s branding guidelines as established.
• Ensure safe and proper custody and maintenance of company assets at the retail and consumer outlets.
Financial Management
• Assume full accountability for the country’s profit and loss statement, as well as the balance sheet.
• Work closely with the Regional Supply team to provide accurate demand forecasts aligned with customer needs.
• Oversee the Company’s financial performance, investments, and other business ventures.
• Continuously improve the cost-effectiveness of capital and revenue expenditures, fostering a culture of responsible investment and spending that ensures affordability for our customers.
People Management & Leadership
• Provide leadership and ensure efficient and effective management of staff to ensure targets are achieved.
• Mentor and interact with sales staff to foster growth and encourage development including periodical review of KPIs to achieve desired efficiency of the staff.
• Motivating and coach the team to operational success.
• Consistently promote high standards and ensure each team member understands expected standards and behavior.
Compliance and Safety
• Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and conditions related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and legal compliance, ensuring that our operations consistently operate safely and within the bounds of the law.
Client Engagement and Management
• Represent the Company in dealing with clients and other external stakeholders on all commercial matters.
• Lead the team to achieve customer retention by providing efficient customer service.
• Establish partnerships with key stakeholders for effective business relationships and networks within industry and other related sectors.
• Participate in contract negotiations with clients and plan for execution.
Strategic Alignment
• Lead the development and implementation of the Company’s commercial strategy ensuring alignment to the overall business plan to sustain business growth and profitability.
• Formulate business strategies responsive to changes in market environment.
• Provide advice and support to Management on all technical and commercial matters across the petroleum value chain as may be required.
• Developing a quarterly and monthly strategies of achieving Gross margin, sales targets and its effective implementation.

Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields, a Master Degree is also desirable.
• Professional qualifications in Sales and Marketing.
• At least 7 years’ extensive experience in senior management level preferably within the Energy sector.
• Experience in the Uganda or East Africa petroleum industry shall be added advantage.
• Experience in managing budgets effectively, financial management, setting up effective metrics and business processes.
• Leadership experience with a thorough knowledge of marketing principles, product or service management, sales and business development, and is target driven with the ability to acquire and close contracts.
• Analytical skills and ability to interpret sales performance and market trend information.
• Proven ability and experience managing and leading high performance management teams to achieve significant sales revenue targets.
• Demonstrable experience in strategy planning and execution.
• The ability to understand changing market dynamics, translating them into an actionable strategy and implementing the strategy to achieve pre-set objectives.
• Demonstrated strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the strategic marketing and selling process.
• Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal) with a high level of integrity.
