JOB TITLE : Deputy Principal, School of Nursing and Midwifery
REF : JICHS-002NR-02-2019
AGE : Above 35 years old.
JOB PURPOSE:
To direct, monitor, evaluate academic and administrative programmes and ensure their implementation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deputize the Principal, School of Nursing and Midwifery; Prepares lectures, teach and assess students on specific course units of study; supporting the effective performance and strategic management and technical leadership of the Academic team; Ensure efficient implementation of all academic programs for the school; Ensure the preparation of departmental schemes of work and lessons plans; Chair the disciplinary committee of the school; Ensure the integrity and participates in both internal and external/national examinations activities; Establish the required materials for training and ensure their rational distribution and utilization; Preparing academic plans, programmes and schedules including timetable for theory, practical teaching at the School and practicum centers; Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of a Degree in (i) EITHER: Midwifery or Nursing, but with a Degree or Diploma in Medical Education or Health Professions Education or Health Tutorship; (ii) OR: Medical Education with a Diploma or Certificate in Nursing or Midwifery or both at Registration level. The above qualifications must be from recognized and accredited Institution (s) of higher learning. The education/tutorship qualification must be recognized by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports. All the applicants must have a valid practicing license issued by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC), with all the above mentioned qualifications registered/or certified by the UNMC.
• A qualification and experience in management is an added advantage.
• Four (4) years of continuous working Experience in reputable Educational or Health Institutions, with at least 2 years at a position of Senior Management or Head of Department/Director of Studies/Registrar and above.
