JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
Deputize the University Librarian in the management of the Library and Information services.

Key, Duties and Responsibilities
• Support the development of annual action plan and budget for the acquisition of relevant and up-to date reading materials;
• Supervise and appraise staff;
• Monitor and review performance of all Libraries within the University;
• Coordinate the acquisition and processing of Library resources;
• Coordinate and supervise collection development activities in all libraries;
• Coordinate training of Library users and staff;
• Manage placement and transfer of staff;
• Maintain and update Library inventory;
• Develop guidelines and procedures to facilitate access to Library materials;
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
• Must have PhD in Library and Information Science or Information Systems or Information Technology from a recognized institution;
• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (LIS) or Information Systems or Information Technology from a recognized institution;
• Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science (LIS) or Information Systems or Information Technology from a recognized institution;
• Should have at least 3 new peer reviewed publications in the last five years.

Experience
Nine (9) years of related working experience three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Librarian.
