Job details: Victoria University is a vibrant, successful and growing institution with a distinctive identity and a strong sense of mission and purpose. The University Council is to recruit a motivated, innovative and committed candidate to fill the position of Deputy, Vice – Chancellor.
General Overview
The successful candidate should be an innovative, visionary leader with the capacity to build a dynamic management team. In particular the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) will be a widely experienced individual with wide knowledge of national, regional and international status and trends of higher education, with capacity to execute a strategic change programme to ensure the sustainability of the University.
The DVC performs the function of the vice chancellor in the temporary absence of the Vice Chancellor. He performs other functions that may be delegated to him or her by the Vice Chancellor or assigned by the University Council.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of sound financial and administrative policies that ensure financial and administrative strength needed by the University to realize its mission and objectives.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Have a PhD from a recognized University;
- At least Associate professor in a reputable University;
- Be between 35-60 years;
- Be an accomplished scholar with a proven track record of supervising and mentoring masters and PhD students;
- Be an active leader who possesses entrepreneurial spirit and managerial excellence regarding all aspects of University operations including selection and retention of faculty and staff for institutional development and student services;
- Have a proven track record of research and publications in peer reviewed journals and/or monographs and books;
- Academic and Senior Administrative Managerial Experience of at least Five years;
- Be a highly motivated visionary academic leader with extensive professional experience of strategic planning, building partnerships and leading academic operations.
An attractive remuneration package shall be paid in accordance with the University Terms and Conditions of Service.
