Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Assistant

Direct Manager: Diesel Mechanic

Job Purpose
To assist the Mechanic with the daily maintenance of all vehicles, trailers and other equipment.

Educational Qualifications
• O-Level Certificate

• Experience Requirements
• 3 – 5 years of experience in maintaining a trucking fleet, Automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
• Experience with working on trucks and plant would be an advantage with Drivers’ licenses from C1-DE

• Key Job Responsibilities
• Assist the Mechanic with all his tasks both in the workshop and when attending to off-site breakdowns
• Assist the mechanic to comply with all H & S and Maintenance policy requirements.
• Ensure the Mechanic’s tools are clean and safely stored in the designated toolbox.
• Ensure good house keeping and cleanliness in the workshop, change rooms and tea room.
• Assist with any defects on vehicles.
• Clean and store equipment in the workshop.
• Assist the Mechanic with any task that has been given to him.
• If required assist other maintenance staff with their designated tasks.
• Ensure that the correct PPE is worn for each job in progress.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned where needed including but limited to:
• General housekeeping at the depot and bin yard;
• Spill clean-up;
• Washing of vehicles and
• Any other general maintenance work.
• May be required to work overtime.
