The Provincial Secretarial of the Church of Uganda ( COU ) seeks to recruit a suitable person for the position of Director Household and Community Transformation (HCT).This position requires an individual who is knowledgeable and experienced in the field of household and community development, visionary, team leader and player, decision maker, able to work under tight deadlines with minimum supervision, computer literate and able to demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, good communication skills (oral & written) and management skills.

JOB PURPOSE:

• To plan, organize and manage the implementation of COU community development, social and economic transformation projects, programmes and activities by coordinating the implementation of community livelihood and wellbeing improvement and related services delivery.
  
• Planning and overseeing implementation of programmes for increasing economic output and employment opportunities for households and grass root communities in general, through planned change and transformation from peasant agricultural to agri-business and related local economic development activities
  
• Coordinate all HCT programmes in the Dioceses and ensure their effective implementation and management

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Well implemented policies, strategies and activities programmes as approved by the Provincial Assembly and the sector Board
  
• Effectively implemented approved directorate activities programmes and timely quality reports in line with partnership agreements and implementation schedules
  
• Household and community economic empowerment through revamped community development projects across the Province and new on-going community development programs/activities
  
• Well-coordinated development/transformation plans and activities
  
• Timely coordination of emergency and rehabilitation programs
  
• Robust resource mobilization / fundraising mechanisms and activities
  
• New partnerships developed Promotion of external and internal partners
  
• Strengthened Church involvement in peace and conflict transformation at different levels of the Church and society
  
• Directorate Affiliate Institutions strengthened
  
• Provision of technical guidance and support to the Provincial Church organs in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes/activities

Qualities and experience required:

• At least a Master's degree in a Socio-Economic Development, Community Development or a related discipline.
  
• At least 3-5 years‘ working experience in managing household/ community development and local economic development initiatives, at senior management level preferably in NGO/FBO setting
  
• Should have a high degree of self-drive and motivation
  
• Knowledge and understanding of group dynamics and cohesion in community based working environment
  
• A practicing and committed Christian to Church of Uganda values
