JOB DETAILS:
The Legal Aid Service Providers Network (LASPNET) is a National member based Non-Government organization that was established in 2004 to provide strategic linkages and a collaborative platform for legal aid service providers (LASPs) in Uganda and maintain a common front to relevantly interface with Justice Law & Order (LOS) on access to Justice and Rule of Law. The Network currently has 55 members across 80 districts in the country in addition to 7 honorary members of good standing who include Judges, founding members and strategic partners. The Network targets three critical aspects of coordination namely: A collective role of bringing together different LAŞPs in solidarity for strategizing. sharing lessons and experiences while minimizing duplication; a capacitating role of ensuring improved quality standards among LASPs but also linking International/ Regional development on Legal aid to national interventions; a supportive role of documenting and amplifying voice on key issues regarding access to justice and legal aid at Regional and National level. LASPNET wishes to recruit qualified persons in the following positions at its Secretariat: .

Job Responsibilities:
• The Director of Programs position is part of the Senior Management Team and is
• responsible for the overall development and functioning of the Programs department including: Lobby & Advocacy, Research and Knowledge Management, Networking, Coordination and Partnerships. Monitoring and Evaluation.
• He/She ensures the organization's staff and members' legal and human rights practices comply with its professional obligations.
• A key part of this role is balancing legal assistance, legal education and law reform activities, in order to meet members and community beneficiary needs.

Job Qualifications:
• A Master's Degree in any of the disciplines of Law, Human Rights, Social work. Development studies, Project Management or related field is a must.
• Minimum of LLB degree and Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice.
• Working Experience and knowledge
• 5-year prior experience as a Director Programs Manager or similar role with similar type and size of organization.
• 5 years' experience after enrolment as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda or working at senior management in a similar development institution.
• Demonstrated experience with community organisations and an understanding of the Justice law and legal aid sector
• Comprehensive knowledge of working and operating within organisational policies and procedures
• Experience in establishing programs/ implementing projects / reporting, among others. Other requirements:
• Must be self-driven, hardworking, trust-worthy and having a high level of integrity and respect
• Good leadership skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Applicant should be 35 years and above.
