JOB DETAILS:
Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) exists to innovate cost-effective rural infrastructural solutions through advocacy, evidence, and technical assistance to promote safe access for geographically isolated communities through partnership with governments and donors.

Job purpose
The Director of Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for providing leadership and support to strategic partnership initiatives globally, through initiatives specific to countries or regions of interest. The Director will be a strong collaborator with a passion for systems change and ecosystem development across the rural access sector. The Director will be both externally facing and internally supportive to program partnership staff.

Key duties and responsibilities
Advocacy & Partnerships
• Identify and pursue new strategic partnerships with governments, finance institutions, private sector, non-profit organizations, and other strategically aligned entities
• Represent B2P as a key external spokesperson in meetings, events, and other initiatives
• Develop B2P’s global guidelines for strategic partnerships
• In close conjunction with VP of Programs, lead partnership development for new geographies, including partnership engagement planning, partnership meetings, agreement drafting, official communications, etc.
• Manage relationships with partnerships consultants as required
• Identify communication materials needs and work with AMP team members to develop them
• Develop guidance for systems-use related to partnerships tracking
• Track and monitor partnership-related risk and opportunities
• Ensure Knowledge Base is updated with strategic partnerships documents
Strategic Support/Advising for Internal Teams
• Review and advise on all national strategic plans and logframes, in line with B2P’s strategic plan, AMP strategic plan, and government partnerships and systems change strategy
• Provide templates, and review and advise on the development of partnership engagement/advocacy plans
• Build the capacity of country teams to confidently engage with internal partners and stakeholders
• Review and advise on advocacy event plans
• Support monitoring for compliance of existing/secured strategic partnerships
• Support monitoring of partnerships achievements (i.e. securing new partnerships)
• Support teams in navigating roadblocks with new or potential partners
• Provide templates, and review and advise on the development of all cooperative agreements, contracts, Memorandums of Understanding, and other strategic partnership agreements
• Advise on content creation to support country-level partnerships goals
• Provide consultation to internal team members on government negotiations
• Support development of all partner policy engagement
• Advise on partnerships-related program annual plans and budgets
• Develop, lead, and convene partnership training and capacity development activities
• Support monitoring of partnerships systems usage
• Support onboarding and development for partnerships-focused team members

Qualifications
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in partnership development and advocacy, especially within East African national level government officials and major international donors
• Minimum three years leading an advocacy or partnerships team or function
• Cultural competency in B2P program countries (Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia) with a demonstrated understanding of contextual challenges
• Commitment to systems change and collective action
• Track record of building partnerships with international agencies
• Experience in policy writing and influencing
• Experience in overseeing donor compliance activities
• Experience in supporting staff horizontally and leading from behind, comfort in collaborative matrixed organization
• Self-directed and personally motivated
• Eager to take advantage of new opportunities
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Working conditions
This position will require travel to B2P program countries, prospective program countries, and other locations for conferences and meetings.

Physical requirements
The position requires the ability to climb stairs. The position may require standing for extended periods of time and performing repetitive tasks.
